Beyond legal and regulatory standards, Weald Computer Systems recognises that it has a duty to the community.

As part of our corporate strategy and operating methods, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continuously enhancing our environmental efficiency. Customers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders will be encouraged to do the same.

Our board of directors oversees ensuring that this environmental policy is followed; moreover, all employees have a duty in their respective areas to ensure that the policy’s goals and objectives are met.

Our Aims

We have a strong commitment to the environment. Understanding the problems of the great community around us, Weald Computer Systems endeavours to work closely with the community and adopt methods of waste reduction as well as smarter energy use. These are some of the changes we have considered and are implementing if not done so already.

Policy aims

We endeavour to:

  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Enhance and track environmental performance on a regular basis.
  • Boost and reduce environmental effects on a continuous basis.
  • Take environmental considerations into account when making business decisions.
  • Increase employee awareness and training.
Paper

We will:

  • Reduce the amount of paper used in the workplace.
  • Minimise the amount of packaging we use.
  • Wherever possible, purchase paper that has been recycled or is recyclable.
  • Whenever feasible, reuse and recycle all paper
Energy and Water

We will seek to:

  • As much as possible, reduce the amount of energy used.
  • Make use of electricity providers that use alternative sources of energy.
  • When not in use, switch off lights and electrical appliances.
  • Make heating adjustments while keeping energy usage in mind.
  • When buying new goods, consider their energy consumption and quality.
Office supplies

We will:

  • Determine if the need can be addressed in a certain way.
  • Before buying equipment, see whether renting or sharing is an option.
  • Consider the environmental effects of any new goods we want to buy.
  • Wherever possible, buy more environmentally friendly and effective goods.
  • Reuse and recycle everything we are reasonably able to.
Transportation

We will:

  • Encourage the use of alternate modes of transportation, such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing.
  • Encourage employees to carpool.
  • Make extra efforts to meet the needs of those who use public transportation or bicycles.
  • Choose ‘green’, hybrid, or fully electric cars, and maintain them to ensure their continued performance.
  • Provide incentives to staff choosing to buy/lease fully electric cars
  • Prioritise parking for car sharing
Maintenance and cleaning

We will:

  • Use eco-friendly cleaning supplies wherever possible.
  • When renovating an office, use products that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
  • To dispose of waste, only use approved and appropriate organisations.
  • Always dispose of all waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in accordance with government regulations and through an approved third party.
Monitoring and improvement

We will seek to:

  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Enhance and track environmental performance on a regular basis.
  • Boost and reduce environmental effects on a continuous basis.
  • Take environmental considerations into account when making business decisions.
  • Teach employees to be more conscious of their surroundings.
  • At monthly management meetings, review this policy and any associated business concerns.
Culture

We endeavour to:

  • Review and update this policy at least once a year, if required, in consultation with staff and other stakeholders.
  • Include employees in the policy’s implementation to increase engagement and efficiency.
  • Provide appropriate environmental training to employees.
  • Boost the environmental efficiency of manufacturers, contractors, and subcontractors.
